      <image:title>ROCKS + MINERALS - GEODES</image:title>
<image:caption>Geodes are rounded, hollow voids in rocks filled with crystals and other minerals. They are typically formed when air bubbles inside of volcanic rock form hollow cavities. Over time, as mineral-rich water seeps into the rock it begins to deposit tiny crystals on the sides the hollow cavity. The most widely known and sought-after geodes are those that formed in areas of volcanic activity.</image:caption>

      <image:title>ROCKS + MINERALS - AGATE</image:title>
<image:caption>A popular, translucent variety of microcrystalline quartz, agate forms when silica from groundwater is deposited in concentric layers around the walls of igneous rock cavities, or in horizontal layers building up from the bottom of the cavity. This process produces agate’s characteristic banded patterning which comes in a variety of interesting colours that are caused by impurities. The Opal Centre has a wide range of polished agate bookends, slabs and slices.</image:caption>

      <image:title>ROCKS + MINERALS - METEORITES</image:title>
<image:caption>A meteorite is a solid piece of debris from an object, such as a comet, asteroid, or meteoroid, that comes from outer space and survives its journey through the atmosphere to reach the surface of a planet or moon. Meteorites can break up into several pieces while still in flight or when they hit the Earth. They can travel at very high speeds, typically from about 15 km - 70 km per second. Meteorites range in size from pea-sized pieces up to large masses many tonnes in weight.</image:caption>

      <image:title>FOSSILS + SPECIMENS - AMMONITES</image:title>
<image:caption>Ammonites are part of an extinct group of marine mollusc animals that lived from 66 to 201 million years ago, during the Cretaceous and Jurassic periods. They had a coiled external shell similar to that of the modern nautilus. Our ammonites are sourced from Madagascar, an area renowned for producing beautifully preserved ammonite fossils, many of which display beautiful patterns that have been agatised. You can often see the inner chambers of an ammonite preserved as hollow cavities lined with crystals.</image:caption>

      <image:title>FOSSILS + SPECIMENS - SPIRALITE GEMSHELLS</image:title>
<image:caption>Recently discovered on a pristine hill in central India which was once under a Prehistoric sea called Tethys, spiralite gemshells blur the lines between fossils and crystals. Naturally beautiful and estimated to be over 100 million years old, each gemshell has an unusual and rare left hand coiling. In the fossilisation process, the original seashell is completely replaced by semi-precious agate and stunning druzy quartz crystals in a beautiful variety of colours. Each spiralite gemshell is unique and highly desirable among collectors.</image:caption>

      <image:title>FOSSILS + SPECIMENS - OPALISED FOSSILS</image:title>
<image:caption>Formed in a similar way to other fossils, Opalised Fossils are created when plant or animal material are preserved in rock as silica, which opal is a hydrated amorphous form of. These beautiful and colourful fossils include opalised bones of dinosaurs, marine life such as molluscs, bony fish, freshwater crayfish, frogs and turtles, and plant material like pine cones, stems and seeds.</image:caption>

<image:caption>A violet coloured variety of quartz, amethyst has been one of the world’s most revered stones for many centuries. Thought of as mostly a protective stone, amethyst is said to be helpful in purifying the mind and clearing it of negative thoughts, including stress and anxiety, as well as generating abundance. Amethyst is the birthstone for February, and known as the zodiac stone for Pisces.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Citrine is a variety of quartz ranging in colour from pale to golden yellow, to a honey and almost brown hue. This attractive colour, plus the durability and affordability it shares with most other quartzes, makes it the top-selling yellow-to-orange gem. Also known as The Merchant’s Stone or The Success Stone, citrine is known for its properties of wealth and abundance, as well as its links to the creative process. It is the birthstone for November.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Quartz crystals are the most common and abundant in the world, comprising the largest and most diverse family in the mineral kingdom. The most iconic of the quartz family and widely used as a popular ornamental stone, this hexagonal, clear rock crystal has long been the centre of many spiritual beliefs and practices. It is said to encourage clarity of thought and purpose to one's heart and mind.</image:caption>

Believed to be a powerful grounding gemstone, smoky quartz in shades of brown also bring connection to the natural world. A common yet unique crystal with a long history of use in feng shui, this gemstone is abundant and found in many locations around the world.
